I took the photo above last night when I was babysitting, for a couple with the most beautiful thatched cottage and a roaring open fire.
And this is todays, while on a dog walk. What is it with my kids and collecting ice?! Soon after this she went over in an icy puddle and we had to get home quick for a bath!

Ah, lumps of ice! Now mine used to want to collect stones from the beach - we used to 'hide' them somewhere along the seafront and they'd have great fun 'finding' the next time we went down there!

Oooh.. I love an open fire and do miss ours... I didn't even mind the mess! It was worth it and now we have nowhere to roast our chestnuts lol. FAB pic!
