A Day Most Momentous!

Is that how you spell momentous? No matter. What I am meaning to say is that this day, Tuesday 2nd November 2009 is a day that will remain engrained on the memories of my 3 youngest children forever more.

I decided at the end of last half term to take them out of their school. This decision was one that many people think I am mad for making and cannot understand why I did it, after all we live 100 yards from the school they were at, they didn't need to cross any roads, it was a perfectly good school.

However, I work in another school within the county. My hours are pretty much school hours, and I found myself in an everlasting battle against the clock, the clock that ticked from when I dropped the kids at school to when I started work, or the clock that ticked from when I finished work to when I had to pick up the children. I would race home from work, driving like a woman possessed, wanging the car up onto the drive, jumping out & racing round to school to collect them, and so on ........

SO, just before the end of half term we had news that some children we leaving the school where I worked which presented an opportunity to me, there were places in each of the year groups of my children. If they were there I would have no need to race any more.

I chatted to the teachers, discussed how working in the same school as my children may feel, for me aswell as them, I talked it through with the kids, my husband, friends, my parents. The over-riding opinion was that this would be a good thing, my list of positives outweighed my list of negatives. So I made the arrangements, filled in the forms, put the wheels of change into motion.

Today was their first day.

They are happy.

I am happy!

Good for you! My Headteacher wouldn't let my children come to the school where I taught, so we were all on the merry-go-round you describe! I'm glad that you feel good enough about it to blog. It's an issue for all working Mums. Good luck to you all!!!!

They all look happy Debbie that's the main thing. They will make friends really quickly like kids do!. Are you going to the crop at Bromsgrove this month or is your UKScrappers thing still going ahead?
