May Day! May Day!

I am sure I must have a blog post every year on May 1st called May Day May Day, as May Day is a biggie in our village. We are just one of a few villages with a permanent Maypole and on May 1st, old tradition rears it's head and Maypole dancers, Morris Men and various other madmen appear on the streets for our amusement!
First were Belle De Vain ladies clog dancers, they'd been busy in Broadway, Snowshill Manor and other places already before they arrived here.

Then came Pebworth Morris. I love the drummers, especially the boy - he's the grandson of the man with the feathers in his hat and his Dad is a Morris Man and his Mum and his Nan are belle De Vain Cloggers!.

Not sure what this loon was all about - Fox Hunting??

Then the Ladies Maypole Team, by this time the rain had started, they were FREZZING!! Poor Charlotte here, with her shoulders all hunched where she was so cold!! You could see your breath by the time they had finished!

But it was another great Mayday! A few glasses of Rose and a burger from the BBQ helped the evening chill stay away!

How lovely to be able to keep up old traditions, long time since I've seen Maypole dancing! Great photos! Hope Charlotte warmed up after!
